I know, i know... Ane Brun is not Swedish, she is a "Stockholmare from Norways north-west coast" as said by Skavlan. I can't help myself so i have to tell you that she now also sings beautifully in Norweigan.
Don't miss this video, it's Youtube fresh and right of the national Swedish TV. Below you can compare it with the English version if you like.

This year Björk won the Polar Music Prize, a prestigious Swedish music prize founded by Stig "Stikkan" Andersson [the manager of ABBA]. A few of her songs was brilliantly covered by some of the best artists in Sweden right now. Take some time and check out the videos below.

Fembot | Robyn
Body Talk Pt.1 is coming! from Robyn on Vimeo.
Hi everybody! I'm back with some cool Robyn news. Robyn released the new single Fembot from her upcoming album Body Talk PT 1 the other day. Robyn has been busy recording for a while and therefor she can release three (!) albums this year. Amazing!
The first one, Body Talk PT 1 will be released on June 14th, and so will the second single Dancing On My Own. You will find the track listing below. Robyn has been working with people Kleerup, Klas Åhlund and Röyksopp among others when creating these albums. Earlier this year we were able to get a sneak peak in the creative process behind this album, in the SVT documentary series Dom Kallar oss Artister. Did you know that she listens to her own music in the car, to determine what changes needs to be done?

Ane Brun on SVT Play

Back from a long and well needed time off i start with watching an Ane Brun concert on SVT Play [available until February 3d]. It's recorded at her concert in Stockholm's concert hall and she has brought many guest artists!
I'm not sure if its possible for you to see it outside of Sweden, but I think you should try :)
Hoping that 2010 will be a great year for all of us!

Daytrotter Sessions

As you might have noticed i love the websites with special features like videos or special recordings. That's why i love Daytrotter.com. There is a lot of good music to find, among the Swedish we find Loney, Dear and Dungen. You might also find fellow Scandinavian Ane Brun interesting. Become a member to be able to download free mp3's.
In the future i hope to find more Swedish music on Daytrotter, but in the meantime i enjoy a lot of other favorites on the website.

[Love] Anna Järvinen

If I you should listen to one artist that sings in Swedish this year it should be Anna Järvinen. She released her first solo album Jag Fick Feeling in 2007, but I fell in love with Anna years ago when she was one of the singers in Stockholm based pop group Granada.
Anna was born in Finland but moved to Sweden as a child [Finland have big areas with Swedish speaking natives, a heritage from the day when Sweden incorporated most of Scandinavia]. She has always been a creative person and went to art school and still paints regularly between recordings. Both of her albums have been realsed by Häpna and have been great success storeys for the small label. When creativity is a natural force it can be this great!
Earlier this year she released her second album Man Var Bland Molnen, a step up from the first one, even if you didn't think it was possible. Her delicate voice signals both softness and strong will when she delivers wonderful Swedish lyrics. Enjoy some of her music from the new album, recorded by PSL here. Im sure we can expect more wonderful music from Anna in the future :)
Anna is doing live shows in Sweden and Finland this spring/summer. Check out her Myspace for more information about when and where!

Ane in Haarlem

Last weekend I had the privilege to see Ane Brun live in the Patronaat in Haarlem [Holland] and it was my first time seeing this lovely lady outside of Sweden. It was the last show of the European tour of the Sketches. Sketches is the acoustic version of the latest album Changing of The Seasons that was released last spring. I bought it at Klicktrack, and so can you!
Ane and her diamonds were in a great mood and it was fun to see her make small talk in English instead of Swedish in between songs. She dedicated the song Changing of The Seasons to me and my fellow Scandinavians that night :)
Pssst! Ane is going on a Scandinavian tour after the summer, but if you are lucky you can see her in the UK during may. Check out more specific tour dates at AneBrun.com

Black Cab Sessions

The past week I have been addicted to the Black Cab Sessions. Its full of acoustic live acts recorded on video in a black cab in London, with a lot of great artists and bands. Some of the great ones is Swedes that are being hyped at the moment, like Jens Lekman, Lykke Li, Peter, Björn and John and fellow Scandinavian Ane Brun.
Jens is performing his song Black Cab, but the cab Jens is singing about is not the black cabs of London, its actually the black cab market in Gothenburg [and the sometimes dangerous men that drives them].
You can also find a lot of great non-Swedish music like Ryan Adams, Death Cab for Cutie, Martha Wainwright, Daniel Johnston, Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver to name a few. All of these are worth to check out [if you haven't already].
