Dom kallar oss Artister

Recently SVT [Swedish public television] started to air the second season of Dom kallar oss Artister [They call us artists] a series of 28 minute programs featuring different Swedish artists. The first program follows Markus Krunegård during a day in his life, when he travels back to his home town Norrköping to play at the local record store.

I wish all of you could understand Swedish, but i know that's not the case. If you can you should check it out anyway, because it features a lot of great music :) ---> Dom kallar oss Artister - Markus Krunegård.

Markus Krunegård - Hela Livet var ett Disco

In the upcoming season we will also meet Björn Skifs, Amanda Jenssen, Mustasch and Jenny Wilson among others.

Pssst! If you want to read up on who was featured in the first season, check out Wiki!

Top 5 album list of 2009

This time of year I scan the music magazines and read their year-lists. Everyone is eager to make a list in the spirit of High Fidelity, to summarize yet another great musical year :) So here comes my top 5 list of Swedish albums that stood out from the crowd. At least for me.

Without any specific order:
* El Perro Del Mar - Love is Not Pop
* Anna Järvinen - Man var Bland Molnen
* Brothers of End - The End
* Fever Ray - Fever Ray
* Melissa Horn - Säg Ingenting till Mig

Other artist that has released albums that has been on my mind more or less during the year, has been: Hello Saferide, Asha Ali, Kent, [ingenting], Taken by Trees, A Camp, Maia Hirasawa and Markus Krunegård.

For the year 2010 I'm eagerly awaiting the albums of First Aid Kit, Hajen and The Radio Dept. Im also hoping for world peace and the spread of Spotify to the rest of the world, so more people can access great music :)

New Release | Markus Krunegård

The man behind the hit Jag är en Vampyr, Markus Krunegård is back with not one, but two new albums on October 14th. The two new albums Prinsen av Peking and Lev som en gris dö som en hund is yet another proof of the ambitious work from the former singer in the band Laakso. Markus has the ability to make great pop songs in three different languages [Swedish, Finnish, English]. In the past Markus has collaborated with other artists like Säkert! [on the song Det kommer bara leda till något ont] and Andreas Kleerup. He also collaborated with the Swedish musical star Peter Jöback in the song Italy vs Helsinki.

Markus Krunegård - Hela livet var ett disco

Markus Krunegård - Jag är en vampyr

Markus Krunegård - Det är ett idogt jobb att driva ungdomen

PSL

PSL is a Swedish music blog that i read on a regular basis. Its hosted by the national Swedish television [SVT] and the music-veteran Per Sinding Larsen [hmmm, maybe that's where the name of blog comes from?]. Per releases news about music in Swedish, but if you are interested you can always use Google translate and get updated.

By the way, the best part is the special video performances and you don't need a translator for that ;) Check out more here ---> PSL. Here is a few of my favorites!

Hello Saferide - Arjeplog

Moto Boy - What It Was Like To Be With You

Frida Hyvönen + Markus Krunegård - Dirty Dancing

Kristian Anttila - Tio

Laakso - Västerbron

The Soundtrack Of Our Lives - The Passover

Markus Krunegård - Jag Är En Vampyr
